Where practicable, four of the Management Committee shall have low or no vision to ensure relevance and equity as stated in our Constitution.
Robert (Bob) Malcolm - President
Bob has been a member of the Management Committee since 2014.
He is an Executive Manager with over 35 years experience with senior executives in Australian Corporates.
Bob has held roles as Deputy CEO, Company Secretary, General Manager in the Commercial and Not for Profit sectors. He has worked extensively across the banking and financial services industry delivering profit and operational improvements. His qualifications include a Masters of Business Administration and Executive Diploma of Marketing and a CPA.
Arthur Chawner - Vice President
Arthur has been associated with Link Vision (formerly Aid for the Blind (Qld) Inc., since 1970, an astonishing 48 years. He is a previous President of the Association (1998-2002), and has also served as Vice President twice.
Arthur has been a very successful collector for Link Vision for many years. Has been blind since his mid-teens, and worked in the braking industry for 20 years. Arthur has an Advanced Diploma in Christian Works, majoring in Counselling. He is a proud Life Member of Link Vision Inc.
Licia Jenkins - Treasurer
Licia joined the Management Committee in 2016.
She has worked in both Public and Private sectors for both large and small organisations in several industries including manufacturing and mining. She also has prior experience as Treasurer with a Not for Profit.
Licia believes to succeed any business venture, it is important to understand the financial data and to be able to analyse the data to proactively manage the business.
Licia has a Bachelor of Commerce Accounting, is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and is a registered Tax Agent.
David Close - Committee Member
David has been a member of the Management Committee since 2014.
David is a Board Director, Executive and Project Director with over 25 years’ experience working with C-level leaders in global & national companies to deliver profit and organisational improvements.
He is a Company Director on Boards in the Commercial and Not for Profit sectors. Dr John (Bill) Deacon - Committee Member
Bill has been a committee member since 2009. He has many qualifications including a BA Hons (history), Master of Arts, Master of Literary Studies, and a Doctorate in Memory and Oral History.
Bill taught school for many years and along the way has had a host of sporting achievements, including representing Australia in veteran’s tennis, New Zealand in squash, Brisbane in basketball, and Canada in cricket. He has also coached all these sports, plus many more. Bill regularly reads at Queensland Narrating Service and radio 4RPH, and is also a resident at Link Vision.
Dr Larry Laikind - Committee Member
Larry has been a committee member since 2009.
Born in California and educated in Hawaii, England and Australia, Larry practiced as a Dentist in England before losing his sight rapidly.
Larry then went on to study law, specialising in Disability Discrimination Law and welfare rights.
He has obtained many qualifications, and has a plethora of achievements and awards to his name. He recently completed a Doctorate in the application of supported decision making on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to the Australian guardianship regime.
Yogesh Lal - Committee Member
Yogesh has been a Committee member since 2011.
He moved from Fiji where he was Exec Council Member for Fiji Bank Employees Union, also holding the position of Secretary for Nauyuk Ramayan Mandali.
From 2004 to 2007 he was President for Sixth Sense, an ANZ Bank Club initiative in Suva. From 1997 to 1999 Yogesh was Secretary and then President of Nasinu Jaycees, Fiji.
He is Financial Controller of a steel supply company in Brisbane, and was Treasurer of Link Vision (formerly Aid for the Blind (Qld) Inc) for 3 years.
Aaron Steley - Committee Member
Aaron is a resident of Link Vision Fairfield complex.
He was born and raised in Brisbane and his current working partner is the effervescent Harry.
Aaron has had a successful career as a Database engineer/administrator and network infrastructure engineer.Working these jobs assisted him in the completion of his P.H.D from Berkley University.
He has been involved with various boards over the years one notable one being Seeing Eye Dogs Australia prior to the Vision Australia merger.
Aaron has recently embarked on a new line of study to enhance his personal skills in social work and counselling.
Raissa Martin - Committee Member
Raissa Martin is an Education Mentor for Link Vision and has been associated with the organisation for several years. She regularly supports fundraising initiatives and mentoring support. Her background is in business and finance, having studied a Bachelor of Business (Major - Accounting), with experience in the Financial Planning sector. She is an active member of the sporting community (both playing and coaching), while also a member of the Goalball Queensland Board.
Raissa is a passionate Goalball athlete, having represented her state and country on numerous occasions, including the Rio Paralympic Games. She also enjoys hiking, rock climbing and live music.
Stuart Frater - Committee Member
Stuart is a resident of Link Vision Fairfield complex.
During the early part of his career Stuart had extensive experience as a senior manager in the Insurance industry in both New Zealand and Australia.
He has also spent a significant period as a small business owner during which time he set and worked within a budget, managed cash flow, customer service, and promoted the value of the team.
Stuart also worked for a time in Vietnam, and it was there he had a serious accident which led to him losing his sight.
Terry O'Neill - Secretary and CEO
Terry was a committee member from 2011 to 2013 when he became CEO. He has extensive management experience in Transport, Materials Handling and Logistics sectors throughout Australia. He also successfully operated his own PR business for several years. He has previously been involved with Rotary International and Ronald McDonald Charities. Amongst other qualifications, Terry has a Diploma in Advanced Management. Terry is also President and program presenter on Radio 4RPH, and Vice Chairman of NACRO (National Association of Charitable Recycling Organisations).
The Management Committee meets every second month.
